Though there was much hype surrounding Taverna 750’s move from Boystown to Andersonville, the hype is dead. For the past few weeks the former Brixton spot has remained dark as the restaurant has closed. Owner Paul Cannella confirmed the closure and their phone number is disconnected, their OpenTable page has been scrubbed and their website is offline.

Cannella texted, writing that they couldn't secure a contract and that they've officially "ceased operations." He didn't know what the landlord planned for the space. Taverna only lasted a few weeks in their new location, as they took over the Brixton space on Sept. 2. Taverna had operated in Boystown for five years and closed in August after a landlord dispute. The Brixton, and their Malort cocktails, were a casualty of the move.

Will Taverna make a comeback? Cannella wasn't sure: "I think we're still licking the wounds and not ready to make that determination yet," he wrote.
