Dark Matter Coffee opened a new West Loop coffeeshop last week.

Last week, the folks behind Dark Matter Coffee pulled off a stealthy opening on Friday over in the West Loop. They unveiled Meddle Coffee Bar over at Jackson and Jefferson. It’s the coffee roasters third dedicated coffeeshop, joining Osmium in Lakeview and Star Lounge in West Town/Ukrainian Village. That’s excluding their precious Mothership that contains the roastery and an espresso bar.

Forget the routine blank, white aesthetic for coffeeshops. Ownership described the space as "psychedelegant" on its website:

That’s quite a description. The vivid colors, versus the typical ones that minimalism coffeeshops often use, lend a bit of a hesher feel to the space. But instead of succumbing to the heavy metal darkness, they’ve let a little light into their hearts. Roast Magazine has a few great photos of the spot.

Dark Matter Coffee’s Meddle Coffee Bar, 601 W. Jackson Blvd. (inside the JeffJack Apartments building), open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays; 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends.
