CHINATOWN— It’s been a few months, but it doesn’t appear Lao Shanghai is reopening in Chinatown. The front door of one of Tony Hu's restaurants has a sign claiming it's closed for remodeling, which went up earlier this summer. But the phone number is disconnected and both Google and Yelp report it closed. The restaurant, at 2163 S. China Place, was part of the FBI raids on 10 of Hu’s restaurants in October 2014 that resulted in a federal indictment for multiple charges that include money embezzlement.

WICKER PARK— No, there’s no animated voicemail this time, like there was at Kokopelli at the same address. But B Bim Asian Eatery is closed at 1324 N. Milwaukee Ave. The restaurant has gone dark, the phone's been disconnected, the property that houses the Korean eatery has also been listed on the real estate market.

HIGHLAND PARK— The North Shore post of Honey's Hot Chicken closed after just five months in, according to a Facebook post. The restaurant, from the owners of Real Urban Barbecue, opened in May.
