Austin Baker (Bar Marta) has a new name for his upscale Chinese restaurant off Randolph Street in Chicago’s West Loop: 2Fun Chinese. The team’s set up a Facebook page with a few food photos. Right now, they’re in the staff hiring phase for the forthcoming Sichuan spot at 905 W. Randolph St.

Reps still won’t reveal when the restaurant will officially open, but last week Baker’s Bar Marta gave patrons a preview of 2Fun’s menu via a prix fixe menu. After Dragonfly Mandarin closed in 2014 (making room for Bar Siena) the West Loop has been in need of a Chinese restaurant. Stephanie Izard and Boka Restaurant Group struck first with their Duck Duck Goat off Fulton Market. Now, Baker, who cut his teeth working for Brendan Sodikoff’s Hogsalt group (Au Cheval), is giving the area a second upscale Chinese spot. Izard’s restaurant doesn’t focus on spicy selections. It remains to be seen if Baker’s menu will bring the heat.
