—The Edge Bar & Grill, the diner/bar combo from the Golden Nugget folks, is no more at 2720 N. Clark Street. The large space that was open 24 hours with all-day breakfast and booze shuttered on January 23 on the corner of Clark and Schubert, according to Facebook posts. There's no word yet on what will replace it. [UPDATE: DNAinfo reported in November that a school is replacing The Edge.]
—Sbarro's fast-casual Neapolitan spinoff Cucinova Urban Italian, which only exists at three Ohio locations thus far, is planning its first non-Ohio franchised location in Westmont, Columbus Business First reports. Look for it in April somewhere in the burb.
—Bistronomic chef Martial Noguier is now consulting at Cité, the longtime sky-high fancy Lake Shore Drive restaurant, and is working on new menus including its annual Valentine's Day affair.
—Shaw's Crab House, Lettuce Entertain You's downtown seafood mainstay, is launching Saturday brunch service tomorrow in addition to its regular Sunday brunch. Expect the same brunch you know and love, including shellfish and seafood stations and a dessert table in addition to traditional egg dishes, for $55 a person (kids 12 and under eat free).
—Former employees of Bee & Tea, the bao and bubble tea concept from Forever Yogurt that shuttered both its Wicker Park and Lincoln Park locations, say they're owed a month of back pay. The company is trying to secure a loan to pay them, DNAinfo reports.
—Uppers & Downers, the festival of coffee and booze, is coming back to Thalia Hall next month after a successful debut last year. It begins with an Irish coffee competition on February 15 before a slew of tastings, seminars and demonstrations during two sessions on February 20. Tickets are available here.
