Iliana Regan's Bunny the Micro Bakery is opening on Friday. For reals. Unlike the multiple opening dates mentioned last year, Regan's highly anticipated bakery and cafe on Broadway is finally complete and the hand-written menu below provides more proof.
The photos have already been snapped, so refresh those memories and take a look at the space. There's donuts and homemade cereal. Guests have a choice of four different toasts (sourdough, brioche, nut and berry, seeded rye), and a variety of composed toasts and tartines (check out the seaweed sourdough and salmon poke). There's a daily rotating Dutch oven item as well as the Grizzly Burger, named after Regan's late puppy. This fine-looking burger is made with a short-rib patty.
"All fat all gluten all dairy all the bad things in all the stuff all the time," Bunny's Facebook page reads, where a reader mentioned the possibility of topping butter on foie gras. "This is a place for people to get huge."
Most menu items hover around $10. Then there's the truffle upgrades for the corn spätzle and ricotta gnocchi. Those clock in at $20. Don't forget the pastries, and in a town devoid of caneles after Jonathan Ory bolted Chicago, Bunny hopes to fill that void.
FYI, Bunny was Regan's childhood nickname, so check out the opening menu below and stop in to see if the items evoke any other childhood memories.
Bunny, the Micro Bakery, 2928 N. Broadway St., hours not posted yet.
