—Packed was certainly packed over the weekend following Friday's opening. The brand new Hyde Park restaurant had to shut down not once but twice after selling out of dumplings, first opening late (and eschewing lunch service) on Saturday and then closing altogether on Monday. Look for Mike Sheerin and Aaron DiMaria's dumpling restaurant to reopen today at 11 a.m. and hopefully keep regular hours going forward.
—Heisler's British sailor-inspired cocktail bar Queen Mary now serves food. Drinkers can now nosh on a small menu of seafood dishes, including clam chowder ($5), smoked whitefish dip ($5), Spanish anchovies with sourdough ($10), and oysters on the half shell (market price).
—Brian Huston's Boltwood now serves weekend brunch. The Evanston restaurant has an array sweet and savory brunch standards, plus some creative dishes on its menu, which you can read below.
—Expect to see some of Ed Debevic's familiar items at Moonlight Vulture, the forthcoming late-night vegetarian sandwich shop in Avondale, when it hopefully opens this spring. Ownership purchased some of the furniture and decorations from the shuttered longtime attitude-driven kitschy diner in River North, according to DNAinfo.
—D'Noche in Logan Square is becoming De Noche Mexicana when it reopens on Jan. 26. Look for new menu items and a new chef (Antonio Del Real) in addition to the new name for the Cafe Con Leche dinner restaurant.
—A Baker's Tale, the bakery and cafe on Division Street, is adding more of a focus on savory lunch and brunch service when it reopens next week from a short hiatus, DNAinfo reports.
