A Tortas Fronteras by Rick Bayless customer is suing one of the restaurant's O'Hare International Airport locations, claiming a broken margarita glass caused her harm. She's alleging it's a worker's fault and is suing Tortas Fronteras for $50,000 plus costs covering medical expenses and lost wages, the Cook County Record reported. HMS Host Corp., which licenses the Frontera name for use at the airport, is also named as a defendant in the lawsuit which was filed on Thursday, Jan. 7 in Cook County court.
The alleged incident happened on June 2, but it's not clear at which of the airport's three Tortas Fronteras. The customer, Cindy Greenwood, was only otherwise identified as hailing from Cook County. The details of the alleged injury weren't shared.
Bayless' reps declined comment, referring inquiries to HMS Host. The latter failed to respond to a request. Tortas Fronteras is a popular dining option for travelers at O'Hare, even spawning a mobile app so arriving customers can place pick-up orders while docked on the airport's tarmac.
