Déjà Vu for Clarke's? Lincoln Park Spot Closed For Renovations

Stop up if you've heard this one before, as Lakeview spot never reopened.

It's a familiar situation for Clarke's, as this week a sign went up at its Lincoln Park location announcing a temporary closure for remodeling. Earlier this summer, Clarke's Lakeview location posted a similar sign, but never officially reopened with the same name. The spot reopened under new management as The Belmont Cafe.

Clarke's sign

Clarke's has served the after-bar scene, DePaul students and other Lincoln Parkers for decades. Management opened a bar next door, as they did in Lakeview, to drum up more business. Both closed recently. They've also rolled back the hours in Lincoln Park, no longer staying closed past midnight. The restaurant's website is also down. It's a confusing situation for a neighborhood cornerstone, so keep it here to see if Clarke's in Lincoln Park avoids the same fate as its Lakeview sibling.
