LINCOLN PARK— Chicago's third Nando's Peri-Peri is opening this weekend inside the New City development at Halsted and Clybourn. Expect more of that Portuguese chicken with South African spices. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday guests can pay what they want, with that money going toward After School Matters. Status: Soft opening on Sunday, 1500 N. Clybourn Ave.
RIVER WEST— The second iteration of The Roost Carolina Kitchen is about ready to serve up some fried chicken. It's mostly a take out spot, with extra space so The Roost can expand its catering operations. Status: Soft opening on Sunday, 457 N. Milwaukee Ave.
LINCOLN PARK— Not to be outdone at New City, Chicago proper's first Yard House is also ready. The California-based chain is a craft beer-centric concept that will feature local beers from Three Floyd's, Local Option and Begyle. Status: Opening at 11 a.m. on Saturday, 1500 N. Clybourn Ave.

DEPAUL— Venezuelan Bowl Grill is ready to serve DePaul University students and Lincoln Park residents. Empanadas and a variety of bowls topped with veggies and protein are on the menu, and so is arepa. Status: Opening Saturday, 2426 N. Lincoln Ave.
RAVENSWOOD— La Catedral Cafe and Restaurant is serving panini and crepes for breakfast and lunch. They've moved from Little Village to this new space. Status: Certified open, 4544 N. Western Ave.
