Ashok Selvam is the editor of Eater Chicago and a native Chicagoan armed with more than two decades of award-winning journalism. Now covering the world of restaurants and food, his nut graphs are super nutty.

Dominic Zumpano and his crew are ready, as The Cotton Duck will open Saturday night. The BYO restaurant/art gallery hybrid on Damen Avenue will rotate menus and exhibitions every three months and will also feature alcohol-free cocktails and homemade sodas from acclaimed mixologist and meaty beverage pioneer, Adam Seger.

The Cotton Duck is a 1,400-square-foot space with 40 seats, and Zumpano, a James Beard Foundation Award nominee, will start with dinner service and plans to expand to weekend brunch in the future. Visitors can check out the art gallery when the restaurant isn't serving food. The debut exhibit comes courtesy of Renee McGinnis.

The debut menu takes the art into consideration. Menu highlights include grappa-cured ivory char, smoked beef tongue and the Rohan Duck with lentils, pears and fish sauce. Check out the dinner and drink menus below.

The Cotton Duck, 941 N. Damen Ave. (behind Bricola). Open 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays; 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends. (773) 661-6131. Online reservations upcoming.
