Danny Meyer and Dead Rabbit's GreenRiver Is a Swanky Irish Terrace in Streeterville

The acclaimed NYC stalwarts will open their highly-anticipated bar and restaurant on September 17.

Downtown Chicago has seen an influx of rooftop bars in recent months, but not many come with the pedigree of the the men behind Shake Shack and NYC cocktail bar The Dead Rabbit, which won the "World's Best Bar" award at the 2015 Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards. That pedigree will be on display to the public beginning September 17 when they open their first Chicago collaboration, GreenRiver, a swanky Irish-themed bar and restaurant on the 18th floor of 259 E. Erie in Streeterville.

The space has a bonanza of natural light both inside and out, with floor to ceiling windows lining the 90-seat dining room and bar amidst white walls, marble, and interior wood finishes. A 100-seat couch-and-table-filled terrace rivals other recent rooftop openings with an unobstructed westward view of the majority of the skyline across Michigan Avenue. A variety of seating options, including a large private event space, give it just as much of a restaurant feel as bar.

The highly-anticipated opening is less than a week away. Until then, take a photo tour above.
