RIVER WEST— Black Iron Tavern is chef Michael Taus' latest project. He's created a new River West bar and restaurant with a comfy feel that's poised to become a hotspot. Status: Opening today, 401 N. Milwaukee Ave.

NAVY PIER— DMK Burger Bar and Fish Bar opens today to entertain tourists and Chicagoans at Navy Pier. This space will have a special children's menu, a walk-up window with alcoholic frozen beverages, and new outdoor seating. Status: Certified open, 600 E. Grand Ave.

DEPAUL— The Breakfast Lounge, a new diner in West DePaul, opened earlier this month. They serve breakfast, lunch and brunch, including chicken and waffles. Status: Certified open, 2360 N. Clybourn Ave.

ALBANY PARK— Café Chien, a new coffee shop that will also offer BYOB painting, guitar and hairstyle classes, will be ready for Albany Park tomorrow. They'll serve a small menu of pastries along with their coffee drinks. Status: Grand opening 8 a.m. on Saturday, 4749 N. Spaulding Ave.
