After a decade on the North Shore, there are some changes for Restaurant Michael, owned by chef Michael Lachowicz. The Winnetka restaurant will convert its private dining room to a 20-seat tasting menu-only concept, reports the Tribune. They're calling the space George Trois and it's opening on Oct. 1.
There will be seven-course ($140) and 10-course ($160) options, with the menu changing every few months, according to the website. Lachowicz plans on hosting and cooking the classic French meals himself every day in the restaurant-within-a-restaurant at 64 Green Bay Road in Winnetka. They'll start taking reservations this month via phone at (847) 441-3100. As for the name? Lachowicz's uncle and grandfather were both named George, and the restaurant represents the family's third generation of cooking.
