Chinatown Standout MingHin Taking Over Aglibot's Yum Cha in Coming Weeks

MingHin ownership pressed hard for Yum Cha space.

Less than a year-and-a-half after opening, Yum Cha Dim Sum Parlor, with a menu created by chef Rodelio Aglibot (aka "The Food Buddha"), will be leaving to make room for another dim sum spot in the coming weeks, Crain's reports. Yum Cha had been a partnership between Mount Prospect's Intrestco and the highly regarded Chinatown spot Phoenix, but a sale of that restaurant led to a re-examination of the venture.

Stepping in are the owners of another Chinatown favorite, MingHin Cuisine, who pursued the space and are planning on keeping the dim sum format. Once MingHin takes over the 150-seat property it should only be closed a matter of days before re-emerging anew.

Intrestco are toying with the idea of re-opening Yum Cha, albeit in a more stripped down fashion, sometime down the road.

MingHin, meanwhile, have a lot of projects in the works besides the takeover of Yum Cha. Expect a new location in Rolling Meadows, a kitchen devoted to cranking out dim sum for all of the company's locations and a Whole Foods-esque grocery store in Chinatown.
