After a serving customers standout fried chicken for more than a year in Lakeview, The Roost Carolina Kitchen is planning a new location focusing on take out and catering with limited seating and a walkup window. Set to open in late September in River West, the new fried chicken spot will be in the former home of Toni's Pizza at 457 N. Milwaukee Ave., just south of the Grand, Milwaukee and Halsted intersection that's home to The Dawson, Piccolo Sogno, Richard's Bar, and Emmit's Irish Pub.
The menu will stay the same as the first location. Expect limited indoor seating (12 to 18 seats) with 30 outside during the warmer months. Management says they'll be able to handle a higher volume of catering orders, compared to their original spot on Irving Park Road. Ownership is also planning to keep the second Roost open later to capitalize on crowds leaving the bars and clubs in the area.
