III Forks Prime Steakhouse was the scene for a huge Grateful Dead friends and family party this past Sunday before the band played their final show ever. Chef Billy Caruso put together a special menu for the event which pulled in members of the Dead, late band member Jerry Garcia's family, basketball legend and certified "Dead Head" Bill Walton, music groups the Avett Brothers and Umphrey's McGee and many more.

Caruso's menu included mini Chicago-style hot dogs, bourbon fried chicken, elotes, mini Chicago beef subs, and "$1 grilled cheese" and "Jerry Rolls" (traveling Dead Heads know about these). There were also cocktails crafted and named after Dead songs "Fire On the Mountain" (horchata Fireball tiki cocktail) and "Black-Throated Wind" (whiskey, grapefruit and black strap molasses).

The Grateful Dead ended their storied 50-year career in Chicago with three massive, sold-out shows at Soldier Field last weekend. The band's finale brought many celebrities to Chicago including John Mayer and Katy Perry, Chloe Sevigny, Woody Harrelson, Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, singer Liz Phair and Minnesota Senator Al Franken.
