Humboldt Park's long-awaited Boathouse Cafe opened over the weekend. City officials may have closed the park's beach earlier this year, but now residents have a full-service restaurant in the middle of the park.

Stop by this morning and pick up your brew, a pastry, a breakfast sandwich or all three on your way to work! We would love to serve you! We are open at 7 am!

Owned by Humboldt Park residents Erica Serrano and Silvana Botero, the menu features sandwiches, including a Monte Cristo and Chicago-style hot dog. After 5 p.m., dinner starts and features a skirt steak served with potato wedges and corn on the cob, plus portobella veggie ragout. Breakfast pastries are also available.

The Boathouse Cafe is 3,300 square feet with about 30 seats. It sits inside the Chicago Park District's boathouse, adding to the list of Chicago's restaurants off the water.

Boathouse Cafe, open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends at 1301 N. Humboldt Blvd. (773) 243-9511.
