Halal Guys Opening End of August; Tunney Wants Curbside Cafes; More

GOLD COAST— Despite rumors that it will open earlier, Chicago's first Halal Guys location won't open at least until the end of August. The owner had to politely ask for a fake Facebook Event with a false opening date to be taken down. [EaterWire]

LAKEVIEW/LINCOLN PARK— Chicago Ald. (44th) Tom Tunney wants to try curbside cafes out from May to the end of September along Clark Street, between Diversey and Wellington. These cafes would be in places with sidewalks too narrow for traditional sidewalk cafes. The restaurant owners would have to compensate the city for loss revenue from parking meters. [Sun-Times]

MAGNIFICENT MILE— Cindy's, the rooftop venue at the Chicago Athletic Association, is offering weekend brunch starting Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Check out the menu and reservations here. LOGAN SQUARE— Taste of Latin America returns for its third year, going from Saturday to Sunday on the 3600 block of West Armitage Avenue. The action starts at 11 a.m. and goes to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 9 p.m. on Sunday.
