Logan Square has a new late-night casual spot for affordable German street food, courtesy of the guys behind The RadlerDAS, the restaurant-within-a-restaurant in the back of the hot German restaurant on Milwaukee Avenue, soft-opened on Saturday night 2855 W. Fullerton, offering a variety of doner kebabs, sides, and drinks until late just off that sizzling block of Milwaukee Avenue. Regular hours (Wednesday-Sunday, 5:30 p.m. until midnight or 2 a.m.), begin on Wednesday.

Owner Adam Hebert and owner/chef Nathan Sears, who have been selling their doner kebabs at events and festivals for the last few months, decided to switch gears on their space in the back of The Radler from finer dining to casual after overhearing customers at another nearby restaurant calling their first restaurant "too fancy" about a month ago. Since they already had the recipes and equipment to cook the German street food, they only had to put in some light construction and design work to turn the space around for a quick opening.

The full menu, which you can read below, offers four types of fillings three ways for $8 each (chicken, pork, mushroom, chickpea), available in rolls, pitas or bowls. There's also five sides ($2), wine and beer ($3-8), and sodas ($2.50). The space, which has its entrance on the Fullerton side and backside of The Radler, seats 35 inside with standing counters and another 40 on a streetside patio. With the late hours, it should be a good option for affordable chef-driven German street food before or after a night out in Logan or a quick meal another evening.
