LINCOLN PARK—Dion Antic's reboot of his nineties staple Harry's Velvet Room in the former Webster's Wine Bar space is shelved for now, as a handwritten sign on the door reads that it's "closed until further notice." Antic says in an email that he is "in a contract dispute with the sellers of Webster's Wine Bar" (building owner Tom MacDonald) and is "taking a couple days off to sort it out." MacDonald hasn't responded to inquiries—stay tuned. [EaterWire]
WICKER PARK—The Hot Doug's atomic pizza, which was a special in March, will become a menu fixture at Piece Brewery and Pizzeria on Thursday. It's a red sauce pie topped with pepper jack cheese, caramelized onions and Hot Doug's "Atomic Bomb" sausage (pork with habaneros, serranos and jalapeños). [Tribune/EaterWire]
CALIFORNIA—Danny Meyer's Union Hospitality Group (Shake Shack) is now an investor in the 22-location California soup, salad and sandwich chain Tender Greens, and they're hoping to expand nationally. Chicago is among the three areas (including Austin and NYC) that they're hoping to open in. [EN]
GRANT PARK—This year's Taste of Chicago drew 1.4 million people, which is up from the 1.1 million that attended last year's event that had one day rained out. But it's also down from the 1.5 million attendees at the last Taste that was five days, in 2013. [Tribune/EaterWire]
