There is a tenant for the Streeterville space vacated in October by the short-lived, critically-acclaimed Italian restaurant Cicchetti. Lettuce Entertain You plans on opening its second Beatrix inside the space in Streeterville, according to liquor license applications. Crain's first reported the move.
LEYE declined to share additional details, including the opening date, so look for more intel when it becomes available. They launched Beatrix in June 2013 in the lobby of the Aloft Hotel in River North where they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with a focus on baked goods. Looks like the new addition will be a welcome escape from food inside nearby Northwestern Memorial Hospital for patients and workers.
Cicchetti lasted less than 10 months, abruptly closing after chef Mike Sheerin left amidst other staff shuffles, and owner Dan Rosenthal cited a lack of profitability in the Streeterville location near the hospital. The shutter shocked the industry, as the restaurant garnered acclaim.
