Henry's (nee Swing Club) is expanding downstairs, promising bottle service and a new dance floor that's open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday off Hubbard Street. DMK Restaurants is dubbing the expansion the Rec Room, and they're opening on July 23.
Rec Room will feature a free juke box loaded with "danceable" 45s, because vinyl is just so hip right now. There's also a disco ball hanging from an exposed ceiling illuminated by amber lighting. Downstairs from Henry's there's spaces with private bars and leather furniture for groups of 10. Henry's doesn't take reservations, but the Rec Room does, making it more attractive for groups. Although open to the general public Thursday through Sunday, the space can be rented out any day for private events. They're also hosting stand-up comedy without a cover on Sundays.
Drink wise they're going the bottled cocktail route with bottled gin and tonics (Beefeater and house tonic) and margaritas. For groups, these drinks are available in large format and delivered via bottle service. No food is served, unless it's a private event. Sorry Henry's slider fans. There's also plenty of canned beer.
Stay locked for a peak inside when the opening date grows closer.
Rec Room, enter through Henry's, open at 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., Thursday though Friday. Closes at 3 a.m. on Saturday and open 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Sunday. Reservations made at recroom@dmkrestaurants.com.
