Ashok Selvam is the editor of Eater Chicago and a native Chicagoan armed with more than two decades of award-winning journalism. Now covering the world of restaurants and food, his nut graphs are super nutty.

Only two more weeks until Bernie's Lunch and Supper opens at the corner of Orleans and Erie. Chef Zack Sklar's excited to open his first restaurant in Chicago, which is also a first for his Michigan-based restaurant group, Peas & Carrots Hospitality. Another of their projects is the long-awaited Chicago arrival of Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken. Sklar confirms Gus's is on target for a fall opening, and they'll be at this weekend's Windy City Smokeout.

But right now, the spotlight is on Bernie's at 660 N. Orleans St. The spot is named after Sklar's grandfather, and Sklar's favorite item on Bernie's menu is the pork shoulder confit & belly. It brings a different Mediterranean and South Asian flavors together with harissa, naan, raita and a dash of Korean with kimchi pickles. Sklar also touts the beef tartare off the small plates' section.

Check out the full menu below, and keep it here for the exact opening date and more information on Bernie's.
