The kerfuffle regarding Donald Trump's comments on Mexican immigrants and 5 Rabbit Cerveceria's decision to stop brewing beer for Trump Tower may lead to a positive for the Latino community, thanks to Gino's East. The pizza maker has bought the remaining beer, once earmarked for Trump's ReBar, with plans to donate proceeds from the beer's sales to the International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago.
5 Rabbit, the suburban Chicago beer brewer, is also launching their own campaign to raise money for the center. Co-owner Andres Araya is asking those interested in donating to contact him here, at andres@5rabbitbrewery.com.
It makes sense for Gino's to buy the kegs, as they've expanded their interests to brewing beer, developing relationships with Chicago's craft-beer community. Good Beer Hunting also has a list of other places which will tap the beer, besides Gino's East on LaSalle Street. It was a house beer for ReBar, and they've decided to re-name it with a name that disparages Trump's famously-quaffed hair.
Trump hasn't commented about 5 Rabbit severing their business relationship. He's continued to defend his comments, and even gained support from fellow GOP presidential hopeful Ted Cruz.
