Are The Hideout's Owners Planning an Escape on the Riverwalk?

Owners say nothing to share yet, despite report that they applied for a liquor license.

Could the ownership from The Hideout Inn be planning a spot along the Riverwalk? Ownership of the venerable dive bar and music venue won't confirm anything, but Marina City Online reports the Hideout team's applied for a liquor license along the river. Hideout co-owner Tim Tuten, in an email, wrote "we have nothing to report at this time."

The potential spot is at the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial, between Wabash Avenue and State State at the Chicago River. That's east of the new City Winery Chicago River location.

City Winery is another place known for music, but management said there are no plans to bring concerts to the river. The Hideout's also known for its shows, including the ubiquitous Hideout Block Party (which is on hiatus this summer). Will the prospect of the Hideout expanding worry the bar's regulars who are concerned that a new location will wound the bar's cred? Or is this just a new frontier for the owners, a way to spread the Hideout's cheer downtown? Stay tuned.
