As Chicago's ramen boom inches closer to critical mass, a new contender is entering the ring that you may know from the burbs. Ramen Misoya, a Japanese mini-chain with a location in Mount Prospect that was the recipient of a sterling review from the Reader's Mike Sula in August 2013, is taking over the shuttered Bombay Spice Indian Grill in Streeterville. Opening timeframe is currently unknown as the chain has not responded to inquiries, but the location has already begun hiring, according to signage that accompanies the coming soon notices that now adorns the storefront at 213 E. Ohio St.
Ramen Misoya is known for its miso-based ramen, most notably Hokkaido-style, topped with unconventional foodstuffs such as ground pork, corn and fried potato wedges in their Mount Prospect spot and at locations in New York City, Santa Clara, CA, Las Vegas, and eight international outposts. Stay tuned.
