WICKER PARK—Listeria has hit Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams' production facility yet again, so the Southport and Wicker Park shops (along with all other locations around the country), have temporarily closed after re-opening three weeks ago. Though Jeni's says no tainted ice cream found its way to any shops, the Ohio-based ice cream purveyor does not have enough stocked up to maintain sales.
In a statement from the company's CEO John Lowe, the company does not have "a timeline for the resumption of production," but that they "have a theory" on how Listeria found its way back into the facility. After two Listeria outbreaks are you concerned about eating Jeni's ice cream or no? Sound off in the comments below. [EaterWire]
SOUTH LOOP—Zapatista has called it quits, announcing the restaurant's closure on its website, Twitter and Facebook page. The restaurant had some run-ins with the health department last year and the Lincoln Park location shuttered two-and-a-half years ago (now home to Standard Market Grill). [EaterWire]
