WICKER PARK—Tom Van Lente's first taco is hitting Big Star's menu this coming Saturday. The former Two head chef, who took over back in February, is introducing his beef picadillo taco with chipotle, raisins, queso fresco, roasted peanuts and cilantro for $4. [EaterWire]
RIVER WEST—Representatives are saying that The Winchester hopes to be up and running within a month after a small electrical fire that resulted in water damage forced them to close back in May. Until then, their friends at Paramount Room are helping them out with a fundraiser this coming Tuesday, June 16. From 6:00 p.m. until closing, Paramount Room will offer their full menu as well as cocktails and beer donations from CH Distillery, 4 Roses, Metropolitan Brewing and Off Color with all collected tips to be donated to help The Winchester get back on its feet. AROUND TOWN—James Beard award-winning chef Shawn McClain (Green Zebra, Trio) will be in town this coming Monday, June 15 to promote Las Vegas on the Ice Dream Truck, which is gold-plated and dispenses ice cream made with alcohol. How very Vegas. [EaterWire]
GOLD COAST—The Chicago Blackhawks are heading back to Tampa today and Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse shipped over filet mignon, lamb chops, chickens, salmon and a whole lot of vegetables for their plane ride there. Let's hope the sustenance fuels them to another Stanley Cup win. [EaterWire]
