WEST LOOP—Construction is underway on El Che Bar, the forthcoming "Latin-local" bar and eatery from La Sirena Clandestina chef/owner John Manion at 845 W. Washington. Manion is hoping to open it in "Rocktober." [EaterWire]
LAKEVIEW—A new bakery, patisserie and cafe from Vosges Haut-Chocolat's former head of research and development, Southern France, is opening very soon in the former home of Spencer's Jolly Posh Foods. Chef/owner Amanda Tommey Terbush will serve French-inspired pastries, mousse cakes, biscuits, wedding cakes, homemade jams, sweet tea, lemonade, and Dark Matter coffee in the 1000-square-foot storefront at 1405 W. WEST LOOP—After receiving $1.1 million via Series A funding, the popular breakfast-themed food truck-turned-restaurant Eastman Egg Company is working on a second storefront. In the former Caribou Coffee on the second floor of the Ogilvie Transportation Center at 500 W. Madison Street, the second location will have 20-25 seats, be open 5 a.m. until 7 p.m., and serve a similar menu as the first. SOUTHPORT—Brewing equipment has arrived at Corridor Brewery & Provisions, the forthcoming "farmhouse craft brewery and restaurant" from the people behind DryHop Brewers on 3446 N. Southport. Construction is ongoing and the opening is slated for late summer or early fall. [EaterWire]
BRIGHTON PARK—South siders are getting their own speakeasy-style cocktail spot very soon. CoCo Club, in the same building as LaCoco's Pizza & Pasta and MaddAnthony's Bar & Grill on 3350 W. 47th Street, is intended to be "the perfect late night, speakeasy, drinking perfection club perfect for those over 30" and open in August.
