Maybe Choose Chicago should tell the Tampa Bay Lightning that the city has more than one restaurant. Tampa Bay coaches, obviously in town to play the Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Final, were once again on Tuesday the beneficiaries of a free meal at Chicago Cut Steakhouse, according to the Tribune.
It wasn't Charles Barkley's treat this time. Vince Vaughn, the actor-turned-celebrity Blackhawks fan, was the person who treated Tampa Bay's coaching staff and front office members to dinner on Tuesday. Vaughn, who starred in 1996's "Swingers" (the movie that featured a memorable Blackhawks-related scene), paid for Tampa Bay head coach Jon Cooper's meal, who is an old friend of Vaughn's.
Cooper sat with a table of 20 that included his coaching staff and members of Tampa Bay's front office. Vaughn then sat down for dinner with former Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, a native of suburban Libertyville. The two are seen here hanging out with Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel did encourage hockey fans of all persuasions to patronize Chicago restaurants, but maybe he wanted them to visit multiple restaurants. Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final is at 7 p.m. tonight at the United Center.
