Up next for Kevin Hickey as Rockit Ranch's director of food and beverage: Ay Chiwowa. After opening Bottlefork and his passion project The Duck Inn, and revamping the menus at the recently re-opened Rockit Bar & Grill, Hickey is setting his sights on Rockit's late night bar and taco spot on Chicago Avenue that's now closed to the general public for reconcepting, Chicago Magazine first reported.
What Hickey will do with food program and other possible changes to the Mexican-themed dive are unknown at this point, as a statement only says that "the team will soon announce a new concept that champions his vision." Stay tuned.
Ay Chiwowa, a passion project for Rockit partners Billy Dec and Arturo Gomez that fused Dec's early work history (Dec worked as a 21-year-old bouncer at the previous concept Martini Park) with Gomez's Mexican heritage, was a concept that was also decided by a public poll. More than two years after opening, another new concept is coming.
