Ashok Selvam is the editor of Eater Chicago and a native Chicagoan armed with more than two decades of award-winning journalism. Now covering the world of restaurants and food, his nut graphs are super nutty.

The Sixth, the craft cocktail lounge from Ben Schiller (Berkshire Room), is slated for an August opening in Lincoln Square. The debut will follow the opening of the second outpost of Fifty/50 Restaurant Group's Roots Handmade Pizza, located next door.

Schiller wants to give the predominantly-German area a haven from the shot-and-beer bars prevalent in neighborhood. Mid-century-inspired lighting and Dutch modern-inspired furniture highlight the design inside the 40-seat bar at 2200 W. Lawrence Ave. Roots Handmade Pizza opened its first spot in 2011 in West Town.

A notable beverage offering is the "Silly Rabbit," but unlike its cereal inspiration, it's not for kids. Bartenders will pour gin, lemon, mint and citrus bitters over flavored ice cubes meant to remind drinkers of Trix flavors like "orangey orange" and "lemony yellow." The Trib has details on the spirit selection and Schiller's background as a sommelier. The Sixth will also serve a selection of barrel-aged cocktails.

Here's a video of Schiller talking about his desire to service the Lincoln Square neighborhood and more:
