Burger lovers near Randolph Row may have a new nearby option if they don't want to brave the lines for Au Cheval. Umami Burger is planning its second Chicago location right down Randolph Street, Chicago Real Estate Daily reports, although there's no confirmation from the Los Angeles-based chain. Umami made its Chicago debut in September in Wicker Park.
Umami would take over the 2,734-square-foot space at 945 W. Randolph St., right next door to the upcoming Nando's Peri-Peri. The South African chicken chain opens its first Chicago restaurant on May 20 at that location. The new Umami would also live across the street from Grange Hall Burger Bar, setting up quite a burger battle in the West Loop. Talk about beef.
