Ashok Selvam is the editor of Eater Chicago and a native Chicagoan armed with more than two decades of award-winning journalism. Now covering the world of restaurants and food, his nut graphs are super nutty.

Thai Dang, the deposed ex-chef at Embeya, said he was escorted out of the restaurant on his final day. Dang told the Tribune's Phil Vettel that he remains upset that he was forced out of the restaurant he helped found by investing family money in the business.

The news and Dang's departure from the well-reviewed restaurant came as a shock to many. Embeya majority partner Attila Gyulai didn't share any details to why he fired Dang. The staff walked out of Embeya to protest Dang's firing, and that forced the restaurant's closure, Dang said. It's been shuttered since March 31, and Gyulai said it will reopen on April 15 with a kitchen helmed by "a nationally-acclaimed chef." More details on Embeya's next chapter when they're available. Meanwhile, Dang told the Trib that he's searching for new work.
