The news was first reported by DNAinfo. Old-school German restaurants were once in great supply in Chicago, even away from Lincoln Square. But through the years German restaurants such as the Golden Ox in Lincoln Park and Zum Deutschen Eck near Lincoln and Southport avenues have shuttered.

Last year, Chicago's first Olive Garden opened across the street, and that may have affected business. A member of LTHForum posted that the Mirabell's owner guessed 30 percent of business went away thanks to recently put in place neighborhood parking restrictions.
