The secret behind Hot "G" Dog, the Uptown restaurant that opened in earlier this month, is finally out. The Garcia brothers (the "G" in the restaurant's name) are former line cooks from Hot Doug'saccording to DNAinfo.

Octavia and Juan Carlos Garcia said they didn't want to solely cash in on their former boss' success. But they did want use their accrued expertise and open a restaurant that Hot Doug's regulars could enjoy. The menu in some places exactly mirrors Hot Doug's as the text under the Andouille sausage is also "mighty hot." Doug Sohn, who shuttered his namesake restaurant last year, hasn't eaten at his former employees' new joint. But he gives the brothers his approval, singling them out as unsung heroes in Hot Doug's success.

Now that the identities of Hot "G" Dog's owners have been revealed, will customers race to Uptown to get a taste and draw comparisons to Hot Doug's? They do have duck fat fries. And they're even available on Sundays.
