According to multiple reports, Moto, departed chef Homaro Cantu's signature restaurant, is slated to reopen by Saturday night and may open for Friday dinner service. The Michelin-starred science restaurant was closed for an off-site event on Tuesday, the day of Cantu's untimely passing, and was still closed yesterday and today.
Chef Richie Farina, whose last day was originally scheduled to be April 18, will "continue to help out when possible" at Moto, the Tribune reports, and other Moto alumni will chip in. Chris Anderson will run the kitchen after that. What will happen to Cantu's miracle berry-driven cafe Berrista, as well as planned brewery Crooked Fork, is still unknown, according to Crain's.
Meanwhile, you can help the Cantu family by mailing donations to Cantu Children's Trust, 1555 Sherman Avenue, P.O. Box 177, Evanston, IL 60201, Chicago Now reports. Pay respects to Homaro Cantu tomorrow, when a visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Viator Parish, 4170 W. Addison St. Mass will begin at 1 p.m.
