WICKER PARK—Pay your respects to departed chef Homaro Cantu tonight at Geek Bar Beta, where the restaurant and bar will hold a candlelight vigil during all of business hours (5-10 p.m.). Owner David Zoltan writes that "Homaru Cantu was a geek icon. He brought science to the kitchen in ways that few have dreamed of and even fewer have achieved. I am honored to have known him, to have called him a friend in that too short time that I knew him, and to have been inspired by his imagination." [EaterWire]

AROUND TOWN—An array of Chicago's top food writers penned tributes to Cantu today that focus on the many aspects of his career and personality that touched them and the entire dining community. Read Phil Vettel in the Tribune, Penny Pollack in Chicago Magazine, Michael Gebert in the Reader, Monica Eng for WBEZ, and Joe Campagna for Chicago Now. [Multiple Sources]

THE LOOP—Prime & Provisions, DineAmic Group's (Siena Tavern, Bull & Bear) forthcoming steakhouse that's opening on May 2, will start taking reservations tomorrow via OpenTable. [Chicago Mag]

EVERYWHERE—Get early bird tickets to Chicago Gourmet tomorrow at 10 a.m., when the pre-sale kicks off on its website. The cost is $135 per person per day or $225 for an individual weekend pass. [EaterWire]
