The accolades keep coming for Jake Bickelhaupt and 42 Grams. After two Michelin stars off the bat in November, Food & Wine magazine gave chef/co-owner Bickelhaupt a major honor this morning by naming him a best new chef.
Bickelhaupt, in a release, says he "was shocked" when editor Dana Cowin called with the honor. It's certainly been shocking year-and-a-half for him and 42 Grams, which rose from an underground "guestaurant" to a 18-seat BYO two-Michelin-starred restaurant located underneath his and his wife/partner's home in Uptown.
Now, add a Food & Wine best new chef nod to one of the most inspiring local restaurant stories in recent memory. Check out the full 2015 list of the country's best new chefs on Eater National.
