Closed since August, a sign still hangs in the window of longtime Bucktown neighborhood staple Silver Cloud proclaiming the shutter is "for a short time for redecorating." But its website has vanished and the space has been on the market, as the rumor mill has been bubbling over with word of a possible new owner—Brendan Sodikoff.
Sodikoff, while acknowledging interest, says that he hasn't officially signed on for the highly-visible corner space at 1700 N. Damen. "We've looked at it and I like it," the empire builder and head of Hogsalt writes in an email. "If by chance we get it I'd do something casual and neighborhood focused but I'm sure lots of people are interested. It's a great spot."
If he does take over the space, it would mark his second venture to the area nestled between Wicker Park and Logan Square. He opened his pizza pub Roxie's By The Slice around the corner on Milwaukee Avenue in the fall.
And whether he gets it or not, it appears that Silver Cloud will be under new ownership and won't be returning after a co-owner sold her stake last summer. Stay tuned.
