The revitalized historic Chicago Athletic Association Hotel will officially start housing guests on June 5 at 12 S. Michigan, and the hotel's rep confirms that the highly-anticipated food and beverage components—concepts from Land & Sea Dept and a Shake Shack—will open at the same time as the hotel. The Tribune reports that the hotel itself will open in May.
As previously reported, Land & Sea Dept (Longman & Eagle, Parson's Chicken & Fish, Lost Lake) is planning multiple concepts, including the former Cherry Circle Room restaurant on the second floor and part of the lobby (pictured). Look for a restaurant, restored bar with Paul McGee cocktails, tasting room, and game room with bocce, billiards and more. Chicago's second Shake Shack is also part of the project, which will open on the ground floor.
Land & Sea partner Peter Toalson calls the project "some of the best work, conceptually, that we've ever done." No one involved will confirm further details at this time, so stay tuned.
