Owner Marc Wuenschel is indeed reconcepting Si Fu Chino Latin Kitchen in Roscoe Village—into a different type of Latin fusion, sans the Chinese influence. Wuenschel says he's partnering with the chefs behind Altiro Latin Fusion in Geneva to bring the concept to the city, calling it Altiro in Roscoe. He hopes to reopen in time for Cinco de Mayo.
Altiro in Geneva, meaning "be aware or be on your game," fuses a few types of Mexican and South American flavors into small plates, tacos and street food dishes that received a glowing review in the Daily Herald in 2013. The 40-seat Si Fu space, which shuttered last week, will receive some painting and remodeling. "I'm trying to bring what (Altiro) did (in Geneva) to Roscoe Village," Wuenschel says. "The focus is on strictly Latin."
Wuenschel, who also owns Hutch in Lakeview, says he's hoping to expand that concept to a new location soon too.
