On a day that many Chicagoans will be chugging green beer and whiskey, Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams will celebrate St. Patrick's Day in a more G-rated way—by opening its second scoop shop in Chicago. The Ohio-based ice cream brand, known for its unique flavors of frozen treats, will christen its Wicker Park location (1505 N. Milwaukee Ave) that day by giving out free scoops during an opening night party between 7 and 10 p.m., the Tribune first reported.
This Jeni's location, next door to the forthcoming Pops From Champagne Spanish concept Bom Bolla, has been in the works since last summer. The space is built out now and signage is slowly going up on the exterior. In addition to its staple ice cream flavors, Jeni's Wicker Park will serve frozen yogurts, sorbets, ice cream sandwiches, and French press Intelligentsia Coffee.
Jeni's first Chicago location, at 3404 N. Southport, opened in September 2013.
