When Tom Van Lente left Two less than two weeks ago, he said he had a "few irons in the fire." It turns out that one of those irons was with One Off Hospitality, as Van Lente will become chef de cuisine position at Big Star beginning tomorrow, Crain's reports.
While the former Two exec chef won't overhaul the menu or replace signature items, Van Lente will debut some new dishes in the coming weeks, as well as specials. Expect details on those soon.
Van Lente's post is the culmination of a two-month search by One Off, as he takes over the rollicking honky tonk taco bar's kitchen from Cary Taylor, who left in December. Van Lente says he's "pumped" to "get his feet wet" starting Tuesday and tackle the high volume at Big Star.
