Community Tavern, the long-awaited project from Quay Tao, the owner of the Portage Restaurant, is finally here.

Chef Joey Beato and Tao aim to fill a void in the area at 4038 N. Milwaukee Ave. There's no pretension here, but as sense of refinement with the painted-over brick walls and large chandeliers. Dining chairs are dressed with a dash of purple, providing a royal feel.

The bar's large enough to comfortably enjoy a meal, and Beato's menu features King Crab legs, burgers and a grown-up Beef Stroganoff with hand-cut noodles and beef cheeks. There's a full arsenal of chops, as the menu calls Community "a boutique steakhouse."
