Starting this week, it's easier to grab a slice of Chicago deep dish outside of city limits.
Gino's East on Sunday, just in time for the Super Bowl, opened its first location in Mexico. Sure, the Meaty Legend's on the menu, but Gino's has a few other variety to pander to locals in Mexico City. One pizza of note is the Chicago Fire. It's stuffed with chorizo, red onion, red peppers and habaneros. The plan is to expand with more Gino's in Mexico.
Domestically, Giordano's is also expanding. Today, the chain opened a shop in Indianapolis at 4110 E. 82nd St. While not exotic as Mexico, the expansion represents the first Giordano's to open outside of Chicago in two decades, according to management. That's quite a turnaround for the pizza maker which faced bankruptcy and was bought out. They're now the official pizza of the Cubs.
