Eight months after new ownership took over, longtime neighborhood bar Marble will close in Logan Square and give way to a new concept with a new name.
That same ownership – brothers Christopher and Calvin Marty — will change the bar's name to Best Intentions. They'll keep some of Marble's favorites, like boozy milkshakes, house-made ginger beer and rotating kegged cocktails. But the Martys also say there will be changes, including ones to the food menu, that they've tested since taking over the bar last summer.
Marble's last day of service is Sunday, and Christopher Marty said they're hoping to reopen in less than two months. The Marty brothers are former long-time Marble regulars, and this is their first project. They're revamping the space, adding a larger bar on the east wall and quadrupling seating. The bar's patio will receive a make over with seating for more than 80 people and an outdoor bar. They'll also update the facade.
Customers have shared concerns that Marble's neighborhood feel would dissipate with last year's ownership change. The Martys assured that they're trying to keep that atmosphere somewhat intact, with Calvin Marty saying in a release that they're "townie bar guys who just happened to be trained and studied in the art of craft and classic cocktails."
