One of Chicago's best-known former "Top Chef" contestants is heading west. Heather Terhune, who famously feuded with Beverly Kim during the chef competition reality show's season nine in Texas, is leaving Sable Kitchen & Bar—and Chicago—on February 27.
Next stop: San Francisco, where she will open another Kimpton Hotel property, the forthcoming BDK Restaurant & Bar.
Terhune, who spent more than a decade cooking in Chicago (South Water Kitchen and Atwood before Sable), is gracious in a statement. "I am saddened to leave a city, restaurant, and co-workers that I truly love, but BDK presents a thrilling, new opportunity that I am honored to accept," it reads. "My culinary career has grown immensely in Chicago."
Sable has not chosen Terhune's replacement yet. She is the second prominent staffmember to exit the respected restaurant and cocktail bar recently, following barman Mike Ryan's promotion to a national position with the hotel brand in January.
