WEST LOOP—A patron at the hot new Formento's tells Eater that the red-sauce Italian restaurant had to shut down early on Friday night due to a kitchen fire, yet offered to pay for their dinner when they left for nearby Momotaro. Formento's reps didn't respond to a request for comment but operations seem back to normal, as it's beginning lunch service tomorrow. Read the menu below. [UPDATE: Co-owner Philip Walters says that halt in service on Friday night was due to the fire suppression system going off, not an actual fire, and that no one was hurt. The restaurant re-opened on Saturday.] [EaterWire]

SCHAUMBURG—Kuma's Corner is getting closer to landing in the 'burbs, as a zoning hearing for 1570 E. Golf Road—the Woodfield Village Green Shopping Center in Schaumburg—is on the Feb. 25 docket. Owner Mike Cain had no comment to the original report in January. [EaterWire]

AROUND TOWN—An enterprising event planner has dubbed next week "Charc Week" in Chicago, and a few local restaurants will serve special charcuterie all week and gather for a cocktail party at The Dawson next Thursday (Feb. 26). Other participants include The Radler, Butcher & Larder, Chop Shop, and Table Donkey & Stick. [EaterWire]
